Lantau Airport Railway (LAR) Trains are manufactured by
a joint venture of Adtranz (Germany) and Construcciones y Auxiliar de
Ferrocarriles, S.A. (or CAF) (Spain).
Airport Express Line (AEL)
formation:
(UP AEL / Airport) E - F - G - H - G - J - K (DOWN AEL / Hong Kong)
Tung Chung Line (TCL)
formation:
(UP TCL / Tung Chung) V - W - X - Y - X - Z - V (DOWN TCL / Hong
Kong)
Their car IDs are similar with the URL's (a letter followed
by three digits), but they are different in one aspect. The second and
third digits represent the car's, as well as the whole train's, number.
Let's look at two examples: car E109 means that the whole train is AEL
09, and car W605 tells us the train it is coupled with is TCL 05.
